B.T. (Truman) Persinger
Truman Persinger passed away in his home on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at the age of 99. Truman was born on November 24, 1913 in Cedarcreek, Missouri, the youngest child of Thomas Jackson Persinger and Abbie Barber Persinger. He graduated from Forsyth High School in 1932. Truman married Agnes Muller in 1935 and they operated a general store in Cedarcreek for 28 years. Truman also served as the Cedarcreek postmaster for 34 years before retiring in 1981. After moving to Forsyth, Truman served on the Forsyth City Council and also as Mayor of Forsyth. He greatly enjoyed square dancing and playing music.
He is survived by daughter Bonita Haworth-Ozark, son Rick Persinger and wife Brenda-Cedarcreek, grandchildren Donita Haworth, Pat Haworth & wife Ashley, Ryan Persinger & wife Tina, Allison Merrell & husband Jeff and six great-grandchildren-Jordan, Cyrus, Kyle & Lane Haworth and Alex and Max Merrell, sister in-law Daisy Davidson-Forsyth.
He was preceded in death by his wife-Agnes, his parents, six brothers and one sister and one grandson-Michael Haworth.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 15th at 2 P.M. in the Community Presbyterian Church in Forsyth with visitation on Sunday, July 14th from 6-8 P.M. at Forsyth Whelchel Chapel. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Forsyth Boys & Girls Club, White River Valley Historical Society or the Senior Nutrition Site in Forsyth.
